Root Form Implant – This is the most commonly installed dental implant. It is grooved like a screw and similar in shape to a natural tooth root. These are most often used when there is adequate depth and width of the jawbone.

Plate Form Implant – These implants are long and flat and are typically used on patients with narrow jaws that cannot support the wider root form implant.

Sub-periosteal Implant – Sub-periosteal implants are custom fitted to sit on top of the jaw. They are most often used in cases where the bone is too short or narrow to accept plate or root form implants. This type of implant usually requires a specialist to determine the appropriate design of the implant. Impressions or CAT scans of the jaw are required to properly fit the implant.
